Your gut health matters for your hair & skin health!

The term “gut health” is being thrown around all willy nilly right now in the health community, but honestly it’s for good reason.

Most people think healthy skin and strong hair are all about what you put on them (aka your products).
But honestly? It starts way deeper than that — in your gut.

When your gut is happy (meaning your digestion’s on point and there’s a good balance of healthy bacteria) your body actually uses the nutrients you’re eating, and the products you’re using become more effective. That’s when your skin starts glowing and your hair feels stronger and shinier.

Some of my go-to “beauty from the inside” nutrients:

  • Protein (think eggs, chicken, Greek yogurt, beef) → keeps hair strong and skin firm

  • Omega-3s (salmon, chia seeds, walnuts) → keeps everything smooth and shiny

  • Antioxidants (berries, leafy greens) → fight off the stuff that makes us look tired

  • Zinc + Iron (beef, pumpkin seeds, spinach) → keep shedding and dullness in check

When the gut’s off? It usually shows up as breakouts, dull skin, brittle nails, or hair that just won’t grow like it used to (breakage, dull, thin).

That’s why I focus on both: feeding my body gut-friendly foods and using scalp + skin products that support the outside. It’s the combo that’s made the biggest difference for me postpartum.
